Turkey in the European Union?

Turkey earnestly wants to be in the EU. Turkish television has just banned Winnie the Pooh cartoons, because Piglet, (he's a pig) is offensive to Muslims.

Writing as an EU citizen (admittedly, non-resident), this is one small item that makes me doubtful about how good a fit Turkey would be.

Ethics Training

The U. S. military in Iraq is going to have ethics training for the troops. This is an example of good news from Iraq. Topics will probably include not murdering defenseless civilians, especially women and children. I do remember hearing that in boot camp, long, long ago, but I suppose it's easy to forget.
